On August 30, 2024, the CodeBoxx Academy and the Urban League of Hillsborough County hosted an onboarding event for seven high school students entering their joint Full Stack Development Program. The program is designed to provide workforce development training for students from underrepresented communities, equipping them with valuable coding and tech skills.
Held at the Tampa Bay Community Network (TBCN), who generously donated the space, students gathered for their orientation and received laptops provided by the Digital Inclusion Network. The event introduced the virtual cohort program, with Brian Peret, Director of CodeBoxx Academy, leading the orientation.
A special thanks goes to Nathena Lowman-Walker of First Baptist Church of College Hill for her incredible efforts in identifying students, managing paperwork, and organizing the event logistics. Nathena even went above and beyond, driving an additional student and his family to St. Petersburg for a personalized orientation.
This exciting collaboration between CodeBoxx and the Hillsborough County Urban League marks an important step toward fostering career opportunities and bridging the digital divide for future tech leaders.
